About Jaz ~ Maltese x Shih Tzu (On Trial 29/11/15)
Meet sweet and playful Jaz who is a 6 year old Maltese x Shih Tzu . Jaz is a friendly and social girl who is an absolute delight - she loves people of all ages and is great with children. She plays very gently with her foster mum’s two grandchildren aged 2 and 5 years old. She loves it when guests come over and will greet them with a wagging tail and a smile on her face.
Jaz is very friendly with the other little dogs she's in foster care with - she will play tug and chasings with them. She also chases cats so is not suitable to live with felines. Jaz'ss favourite toys are squeaky ones - she carries them around the house squeaking them to make her family laugh.
Jaz has lovely doggy manners - she knows how to sit and come, she is toilet trained and is very well behaved when inside the house. Jaz is an indoor dog, she will happily spend time out in the garden with you, however she is not suitable to be left in the yard on her own for long periods as she will cry and bark. Jaz has always been an indoor dog so it is important that her furever family keeps her indoors as she's happiest and most content indoors.
Jaz would suit an active couple of most ages or a family with children, her ideal home would already have a friendly dog of a similar size and temperament as her as a playmate. \ She likes to take toys to the other dogs and put them at their feet as an invitation to play. She has plenty of energy whilst playing, but she also loves her snuggle times and will happily put herself to bed for a nap if tired. She loves to sit on your lap for affection - she also has energy to do zoomies around the lounge with toys in her mouth and chase a ball. She is a perfect blend of fun-time and cuddle-time.
Jaz loves a short daily walk or a play at the park/beach if you have one close by. Being only little she needs fencing that comes all the way down to the ground to keep her safe (she doesn't dig or climb). She would also suit townhouse or apartment living as long as she has the ability to go out to the toilet and she's not left on her own constantly as she's such a social butterfly and thrives on companionship. Jaz will happily sleep on the floor beside your bed or on your bed if allowed.
Jaz has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
