Benedict Cumberpooch ~ jrt X (trial 18/11/15)

Meet Benedict Cumberpooch - like his namesake, he is a dapper gentleman with a unique personality. Unlike his namesake, he is a 3 year old jack russell (possibly with something else thrown into the mix given his long legs).

Benny is a pretty laidback kinda pup - he's generally happy to wander about the house, snoozing and snuggling. He does have his moments though where some excitement is required- he will either play tug of war with his foster brother, or throw a toy back and forth to himself with quite impressive intensity.

Due to this, he would be well suited to a home with either another pooch for company, or alone as he can entertain himself pretty well- as long as he gets lots of time with his human companions.

As he is still quite young, he needs a good walk every day so he doesn't get stir crazy. He is very good on lead, \ although sometimes pulls at the start with excitement. He is only about 8kg so for most people this wouldn't be a problem to handle, and once he is settled into a walk he stays at a good pace.

Benny isn't much of a barker, and will usually only have a few barks from excitement when we get back from work, or when someone comes to the door. He doesn't bark during the night or when the neighbourhood dogs start up.

Benny is used to spending lots of time inside with his foster family, so this will need to continue at his new home so he doesn't get lonely. We are still working on house training with Benny but he is picking it up well- he is a bit precious and doesn't like to go all the way to the grass when it's raining and will settle for the deck. With time and consistency this should be resolved.

Benny is also great with children and quite gentle with all people, however he has not been tested with cats or other pocket pets. With further training I believe Benny would be a good candidate for a pet therapy dog.
