About Jemima the Gem - ID# D150174
Jemima is a beautiful companion dog, she is a loyal, people friendly, energetic and adored by everyone that has come into contact with her and her soulful eyes. Jemima’s loves walks and runs, on a halti she'll walk right by your side, however she prefers to do her walks during the quiet time of the day.
Jem has learnt lots of great manners, she sits on command at kerbs, waits to walk across the street and know all her basics but is very keen on practicing them too and learning even more! She can be a little unsure of new surroundings outside her home, but with consistent positive exposure she will excel and not be so anxious.
Her social skills around other dogs needs to be toned down so more slow and positive socialisation will do the trick with professional trainers help, which Jemima’s rescue group can assist with as she’s been working with a trainer :) Jemima is scared of other dogs and can have some reactivity when she sees them.
* Jemima needs to be in a NO OTHER PET home as she is still learning her socialisation skills with other pets and would need a home where she is the main focus. Jem would be best suited to a quiet surrounding environment / neighbourhood where she can relax when outdoors. *
Jemima is a big girl with a big heart, she would be best suited to a owner who is a calm and assertive positive leader who loves to train :)
She’s happy to keep herself occupied inside alone with a bone or some chew toys, always finding a spot to call her on (usually on a mat in front of the window in the sun).
Jemima likes to let you know when someone is knocking on the door but once their inside she’s loving them up, which sometimes can be enough to ball them over so best to keep her calm and only rewards after shes settled ;) Being a young dog, Jem still have some learning ahead of her, but she loves it and is quite clever and quick.
Jemima would love a home where people are around or work flexible hours as she loves company and walks throughout the day. Her home would ideally have a large yard she can roam around in tossing her toys up in the air entertaining herself and laying in the sun with a chewy treat. It would be best if the fences where high as she is an alert dog and can easily be distracted, but a quiet whistle tends to get her attention back onto you. Jem would also prefer a home with no other animals as she is still learning to socialise though has been making (and will continue to) make great progress with a trainers help.
Oh! and a little quirck, Jem has a thing for your socks, always intact but she hides them under her bed haha.
Jemima is looking for a Foster carer who is prepaired to work with Jemima's needs or a forever home, who will also continue with the work she is currently doing. please help us find her a loving warm home
