About Bear
Bear is a sweet girl who likes the quiet life. She was surrendered into our care by her heartbroken family - unfortunately, despite lots of work, Bear was not adjusting to life in a home with small children and was very unhappy.
The best home for Bear is one where she is the center of attention. She loves to be loved and she loves to give love! She'd rather not share her home with small noisy children. She is learning to get on with other dogs but would probably prefer to be an only dog if she had the choice.
Bear takes a while to bond to new people, like many chihuahuas do, however once she knows and loves you she is the most loyal and devoted dog.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Browns Plains, Jindalee or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Bear has a condition that is common in Chihuahuas - called luxating patellas where her knee caps continually slip out of place. She required surgery on her left leg within weeks of coming into care and recovered well. Once her left leg had healed, post-op radiology assessed both her legs and it was decided she should also undergo surgery on her right leg. Bear will be ready to go to her new home in March 2016 once she has fully recovered.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
