About Leon
Leon.
The cutest, silliest lil puppy on the UNC block.
When I first met Leon he head awfully deep, long wounds top to bottom on both of his back legs and was all bandaged up. We didn't know how he got those, perhaps a car accident. Luckily Leon met Kevin who took wonderful care of him till he made his way to Rescue. Currently he is bouncing around our living room! One would assume that being in a lot of pain, in a cage and abandoned would be heart breaking for a puppy but for some strange reason Leon was always really excited about things, and he remains this way now. Even though he is just a wee lil baby Leon is learning manners and is not destructive at all, very easy going and bright. In the evenings Leon is an excellent snuggler, he loves nothing more then rolling into a little ball next to his carer with his head in her lap. He's just so cute.
Leon does show some fear but copes with it courageously. He cowers when people lift their hands up high and pick up boxes etc (we've been renovating). We address this by ignoring the activity and speaking to him with a gentle, calm happy voice and he has learnt to trust very quickly.
I forgot to mention that Leon loves to lick children.
Leon loves other dogs, he wants to PLAY, he needs exuberant well socialised friends that won't frighten him. We have introduced him to our calm training dog and he was very joyous and pounced around the garden with her for hours. We would like for Leon to have controlled on lead introductions and to learn good social skills over time, with training and attend Dog School.
