Benny ~ American Staffy (on trial 27/02/16)

I’m pleased to introduce Benny our very handsome and sweet-natured American Staffy. Benny has a lot of love to give; he adores his human companions, and he will be extremely loyal and devoted to his family.

Benny is only around 2 years old, and he’s a very smart boy who learns quickly. He seems to know what is required of him, and he watches you closely to see if your reaction indicates that he has done the right thing. Raised voices upset him though, and it seems that his early life was not an easy one. He can be a little unsure of men when he first meets them, but that generally doesn’t last very long and he relaxes more after some pats and maybe a treat. Once he has come to know a man, and to trust him, Benny can’t wait to be his buddy. He loves to be physically close to a person, and he loves to cuddle. None of that macho stuff for Benny, he’s a sensitive new-age guy!

Like most dogs he loves to go out for a walk. He is a very strong, muscled dog, but if wearing a harness he is quite manageable.

He is not a dog that barks a lot, unless there is a stranger on the property or maybe a new dog arriving for foster-care (but what dog wouldn’t have something to say about that!). He will happily spend his day sitting in the sunshine watching the world go by, but he loves his inside time, and sleeps inside at night.

Benny has not had experience in his life with little dogs, and when he sees them he is not sure what they are; maybe a toy, maybe a rat. His new home should therefore not have any small dogs. He has mixed quite successfully with other dogs at his foster-carer’s house, but would be best placed with a female dog, or no other dog at all.

There are no children living at his current foster-carer’s house, but he has been introduced to a few and was happy to meet them. He should not be housed with very small children though, as he is inclined to jump around when excited and possibly could knock them over.

From his uncertain beginning to his arrival in foster-care Benny has learnt to take life one day at a time. We tell him that one day soon he will be adopted by someone who will love and care for him as he so deserves. If that could be you,

Ben is located near Raymond Terrace and only 10 minutes or so from the end of the M1 if you are travelling from Sydney.
