About Sapphire ~ Whippet X Puppy ~ On Trial 5/12/15
Sapphire is a 6 month old Whippet x girl. She is very sociable and loves to be around people all the time. She lives up to her name, and is a beautiful little girl who has the sweetest nature. She is very friendly and once she has met you she will give you hugs and cuddles and want to be your best friend. In fact, if given the choice she would spend her day in your arms or on your lap.
Sapphire is great with kids - she is currently in a home with 7 and 9 year old boys whom she loves. As with most pups her age she will play and run in the yard for ages - she has lots of playful energy and will love a home where she will receive a lot of exercise and physical stimulation with walks, play dates and outings. Sapphire is well suited to a home with children or other active family members. She would love a playful, friendly dog to play with if you are a worker or someone who is home a lot if you don't already have a dog. Her current foster family works and she will happily stay at home with her 2 doggy companions and play and sleep the day away until they come home.
Sapphire is in care with pocket pets (bunny and guinea pigs), and she is not that interested in them, so would be fine to go to a home with pocket pets or cats. She would love a yard of a reasonable size to run in, and the fencing of 5-6 foot. She is fully toilet trained and has lovely doggy manners when inside.
Sapphire loves other dogs and loves to run and play chase with them. . Sapphire is great in the car, and needs to be safely secured with her doggy car harness for any car trips she takes.
Sapphire walks well on a lead - she is very confident and enjoys a daily walk around the neighbourhood. . She knows her name when out, but being a curious puppy she will need to be kept on lead until she’s had some recall training. She is very clever and is already learning the commands sit, down, off, outside, no, and come. She still needs practice, so would enjoy further puppy training as she gets very excited when she receives praise for getting her commands correct. She is very intelligent and is a fast learner.
Sapphire is a delightful, easy-going girl who will win you over at first woof. For more information or to meet Sapphire, please contact Nicola on email icyana@hotmail.com (preferred) or 0401 744 182 (outside business hours). Sapphire is in foster care near Erina, NSW (Central Coast).
Sapphire’s adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping and registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
