About Bernie ED0027
Bernie is a very affectionate, gentle boy with a sweet nature. He’s great with people and just loves everyone he meets. He loves his walks on the beach and will run endlessly for his ball.
Bernie is a calm and quiet dog who prefers the company of humans to playing with other dogs, although he is social with other dogs and has been fostered happily with a medium sized female dog and male dog.
Bernie loves his humans and bonds quickly with them so would benefit from an owner who is home a lot of the time. Bernie does suffer slightly from separation anxiety although if homed with another dog this seems to help his anxiety. Bernie’s ideal home would be one where he can share the lounge with his human because he loves to snuggle.
Bernie is highly motivated by food which should make training him a breeze. He sits nicely for treats (often without being asked) and comes when called – he is also not much of a barker. Because of his strength he is much more easily walked and handled with a halti.
Bernie is a big softy who likes children but would be better homed with older children as opposed to toddlers as he can quite easily knock them over without meaning to. If you are looking for a companion with a big heart and plenty of love to give then Bernie is the dog for you.
Bernie has a strong chase instinct/prey drive so would not be suitable for a home with small animals such as cats, rabbits or chickens.
