About Bear ~ Maltese x Terrier (trial 14/10/15)
Hi my name is “BEAR” and I'm a 5 year old, male, Male Maltese X Terrier. Before I came into foster care I was tied up in a back yard a lot so I am very scared and timid. I would not be good around small children as I cannot handle when someone touches me around my neck or down the back of spine and people have to approach me gently. I pull on a lead a little but am getting better every day when we go to the park. I absolutely love my walk and I am a very chilled out guy for the rest of the day after we go to the park in the morning. I love going in the car, it's fun.
I am fine with other dogs as long as they are very gentle with me. I am living with 4 other small dogs at the moment and I am happy to play with them as they are very gentle.
I am a bit of an escape artist so I must go to a home with a very secure yard. I am an inside doggy, having been left outside alone for so long I really enjoy being inside with my foster family, it’s fun to play outside but when everyone goes back inside I follow them straight in. It’s just so nice to be around people and to be loved. I especially love my foster mum’s 16 year old son, when he comes home from school I just love to go into his room and lay on his bed and be close to him.
I must go to a home that there is someone home a lot as I will take time to learn to trust again. But when I trust you and know that you will not tie me up and leave me or hurt me I just will love you to the moon and back. I am the sweetest cuddliest and may I say “very handsome” boy also. I have so much love to give to my new family.
My coat is low shedding and needs to be clipped every 6 – 10 weeks and brushed regularly to keep me looking as cute as I do now. I am fine in the bath, which I need every 3 weeks.
So if you would like to talk to my foster mum Carolyn more about me please contact her by email Carolyn@tradeserv.com.au or phone or text 0404 874 136. I am in care in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW, south of Newcastle. I'm not available for adoption interstate.
Bear's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
