About Rosie
Rosie, aka Smoochie, is a sweet girl who just melts when she gets cuddles. Sometimes she literally slides down onto the floor when she's enjoying an ear scratch.
She loves to run (she is very fast!) and play with her foster sister. She also likes to play with her soft toys and to chase a ball, though she hasn't quite got the hang of the retrieve yet.
She isn't overly energetic for a kelpie and definitely has an off switch. She's not a morning person and will happily snooze alongside her carers until it's time for her morning walk. She will need daily walks to have a good run and prevent boredom.
Her life before she was rescued from a rural pound was probably not a very happy one, which has made her wary of humans she doesn't know. Her carer has been working with her and she is slowly but steadily gaining confidence. She will need a home where her humans are dedicated to continuing this training with her to help her regain her trust and teach her how to best respond to situations that make her feel uncomfortable. They will gain an affectionate and very loyal best friend in return.
She has never shown any sign of fear aggression towards people or dogs. She just needs encouragement and consistency.
She lives with another dog which has really helped her boost her confidence. She would love a canine friend, but I feel she could probably adapt to life as an only dog if she'd get plenty of attention. She does need to be an inside dog. At her foster home, she gets free run of the house and yard, which helps her feel secure. If left outside, she might bark at unfamiliar noises if she can't get away from them.
If your are looking for a dog to play a game of fetch with, accompany you on leisurely walks, do some training with and to snuggle up with in front of the tv in the evening, Rosie is your girl.
Rosie is house trained and is used to taking herself outside via a doggy door.
Rosie is located in WAGGA WAGGA, a five-hour drive from Sydney or Melbourne.
This pet will come vaccinated, desexed, and microchipped. Registration of the pet with your Council, if required in your state, is NOT included in the adoption fee.
