Misty Star ~ Smiley Mastiff x (adopted 5/2016)

Introducing Misty Star, a 1.5 year old mixed breed beauty. Misty's breed mix is a bit of a guess - we were told she is a Mastiff x Wolfhound with a bit of Shar-Pei thrown in (which could explain the cute wrinkles on her smiley face!) Misty Star loves attention and she loves her family. She has great social skills and is wiser than her young age. She is in foster care with two children aged 18 months and 4 years. She gets on well with children - she doesn't jump all over them and is aware they are smaller than adults so is quite well behaved in their presence. Until she knows new kids she will respect their space by keeping her distance and she will move away if they get too rowdy or noisy for her.

Misty Star loves other dogs - she has great doggy social skills so she would love to be adopted by a family with another dog as a play mate. \ She does like to be entertained and exercised so she would love a family who will spend time walking her or taking her out on family outings. She will sometimes entertain herself by chasing flies or butterflies when she's left alone. Misty Star is in foster care with cats, she is curious about them - if they are stand still she will pay them no attention, however if they run she will trot after them but not in a mean way. She is in foster care with birds and rabbits in an aviary, and chickens in a separate yard and she pays them no attention.

Misty Star is used to sleeping in a kennel outside with other dogs and she is quite content to be outside. She has spent a lot of her life outdoors so she is still learning to be house trained – she would love a family who will allow her inside for family time and who will take time to continue her house training. Misty Star has basic training - she will Sit, Stay and Wait until she is told to eat. She loves her walks and walks great on a lead.

Misty Star loves water so she would love a clam pool with water in it to lay in – she will lay in the water and sun-bake all day long if she has a clam pool available. If you live near a lake or river then she would love to join you on outings so that she can splash around with you in the water.

Misty Star will suit an active couple or family with older children or someone home who can give her pats and attention. She thrives on attention as she didn’t get a lot before coming in to foster care and therefore she is making up for lost time. She is quite independent and does not fret if left alone, however we would prefer her to have companionship and not be left all day.

Misty Star is in foster care with 4 foot farm fencing – she can jump it however she usually chooses not to – unless it’s dinner time and she gets really excited! 5 foot or 6 foot fencing will be ideal for her. Misty Star will bark if someone comes to the house, however she doesn’t bark for no reason, so if you want to feel secure having a dog at home then Misty will help you out.
