About Azer ~Dogue de Bord x NeaMastiff (trial 19/10/15).
Introducing Azer, the Ultimate Mastiff. Azer is an 11wk male/female Dogue de Bordeaux x Neapolitan Mastiff.
Azer is a big sook and loves to cuddle up on the lounge with you and loves to follow you around the house and yard. Azer loves to have a chat to you in his happy puppy voice, he enjoys playing with his toys and loves to play with his sisters and his carers other dogs off different ages and size plus her two cats.
The Ultimate Mastiffs are very powerful dogs. They can run fast and jump. Training may be difficult which might not be suitable for a first time dog owner so Azer will only be suitable for someone that has had experience with this type of breed or with other large breeds. Patience and perseverance are required to adequately train Azer, so professional obedience school is a must.
They are playful and energetic so you will need to exercise Azer at least twice a week. They also have very large and webbed paws, so a swim for exercise would also be beneficial for him. Azer will need to be involved with the family and their day to day activities and not be just a “yard dog” as this breed can get bored and could become destructive. Also a huge yard is not essential as long as he is getting his daily exercise but secure fencing is a must to make sure he is safe. If you have rural fencing, you will need to have secure fencing within the rural area.
They are extremely loyal and will be the protector of the family and property. They are good with children and other pets. Just be aware that they will grow large so supervision around young children will be needed. They will bark and alert their owners when an intruder is present.
Azer would love to go to a home with another friendly dog to play with and to keep him occupied or to a stay at home person that will again include him in their daily activities.
Azer had contracted Demodex mange from his mum as a pup but this is all cleared up now. He will need to be on a high quality diet for life and avoid prolonged high levels of stress so as not to have any recurrence in the future.
Azer will only be available for adoption in the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Hunter, Port Stephens and Central Coast areas. He is not available for interstate adoption.
If you feel you can give Azer the love, training and exercise that he needs, please contact his carer Krystina via email: Krystina_ws@Hotmail.com. Azer is in care in Tingira Heights, Lake Macquarie 2290 and his adoption fee is $600 which covered the first two vaccinations, desexing and lifetime registration.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
