Brutus is a lovely natured boy who gets along fantastically with other dogs. Brutus will need a home where he will be inside only with someone who is home most of the time as he loves the company and cuddles. He is basic obedience and toilet trained.
Brutus is a special needs boy and has been diagnosed with Megaesphagus which is where the peristalsis fails to occur properly and the esophagus is enlarged. Brutus is a normal, happy and loving dog, it does not affect his way of life at all
Brutus needs a special chair to eat in to help him digest his food properly. All of his belongings including the chair, will go with him once adopted.
Medical notes
Megaesophagus is a condition in which the muscles of the esophagus lose their tone and are no longer able propel food into the stomach. The esophagus is a tube which connects the mouth to the stomach. In normal function wave-like contractions, called peristalsis, move the food which enters the esophagus down into the stomach. When megaesophagus occurs the esophagus dilates, or enlarges, due to the lack of muscle tone. This causes food to just sit in the esophagus, unable to continue into the stomach to be digested.
Brutus medication only costs about $20-$40 per month.

Safe Haven Animal Rescue Inc have a 10 day trial/settling period, if for any reason the pet needs to be returned, we will happily take them back into our care once a foster home is found and the adoption fee minus $50 (admin fee) will be returned via bank transfer within 5 working days. If the pet is returned after the trial period there will be no refund made.
**Please note that all paperwork including the Microchip Change of owner form will be handed over after the 10 day trial period.**
