About Storm ~ young kelpie, male (trial 6/11/15)
Inviting all Kelpie lovers to meet 5 month old Storm!
Storm is your typical, energetic, young boy who loves to play and is full of cheek! Storm has discovered recently in foster care that he is a 'working dog' breed and as such is taking his job of chasing flies very seriously! He also fancies himself as a bit of a sheep herder although I dont have sheep.. but Storm is happy to round up the other dogs he lives with! .... Storm would be great as a working dog on a farm! He has all the instincts of his breed!
Storm is coming out of the puppy biting stage as his baby teeth are falling out and being replaced. He can still be a bit nippy though at times and is not recommended to be around small children at this stage.
Puppy teething issues aside, Storm is one smart pup and is very responsive to positive reward training, he has already learned his name, ‘sit’, and is becoming more consistent with ‘stay’. He is also learning from the three other dogs he is living with how to interact appropriately with them.
He is doing exceptionally well with house training and is beginning to take himself to the back door to be let out for a wee. He still needs a toilet break during the night though. Storm sleeps inside the house with his foster brothers either in an crate or often on top of it!
Storm has two to three meals a day of kibble, rice/vegies/mince or tuna plus some treats of apple/pear/banana with yogurt, yum yum!
Storm would love to be adopted by a couple who have time to put into training him and will include him as part of the family by allowing him inside with the family as much as practicable. Storm will also need secure fencing and a substantial walk/run each day once he has finished growing, until then a few laps around the block will suffice!
If you think you can provide the right mental stimulation, exercise and loving home for this gorgeous boy, please enquire by email (preferred) becsnewemail@yahoo.com.au or message his carer Bec on 0416 095409. Storm is in foster care in Cardiff, East Lake Macquarie, NSW.
Storm’s adoption fee is $450 and covers his desexing (still to be done), microchipping, vaccination, worming and lifetime registration.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
