Tory's Story:
Tory is a delightful girl who is remarkably pretty and has a brilliant, bubbly personality to match. She is the kind of greyhound that you've read about - she roaches, she teeth chatters, she 'nits', and she does the greyhound "smile". But sweetest of all, she wriggles her whole little body in delight when she sees you.
This little girl is one of the most beautiful looking greyhounds you will ever see. Dark brown eyes and an incredibly soft, blue fawn coat.
Petite and lean, her racing weight was a tiny 24kgs, and she remains around 25kgs in retirement. That makes her the perfect size to curl up in an armchair of her own, if allowed to - but she hasn't attempted to jump on the couch while in foster care.
She hasn't shown any separation anxiety, or any nuisance behaviours like barking. She does love to hoard soft toys - and anything else soft and squishy - on her bed, and may gnaw on a shoe if someone forgets to put it away. Generally, she is quite happy to make her own fun when you're busy, and pull toys out of the toy basket to play with. She should be fine for someone who works, especially if there is a male greyhound for her to hang out with.
Tory has shown some resource guarding behaviour, which isn't unusual for an older girl who has always had her own space in the kennels. Feeding her in her own area where she doesn't need to worry about someone else taking her dinner away will help her settle in. She seems fine with sharing toys, but may be protective of her sleeping space.
Tory is happy in foster care with a male greyhound and is perfectly fine. Ideally she would be best suited to a single dog household or to share with a dog of her size (a little smaller or bigger is no problems)
Tory will not be suitable to house with cats or chickens.
She is in good health, and has very nice shiny teeth. She has had an injury to a hind hock at some time, and may favour that foot a little, but nothing that interferes with her running zoomies in the garden. She's had an external vet exam since coming into foster care. She is in lovely condition, and has no other known physical health issues, and no obvious signs of any. You certainly won't believe she is 8 when you meet her, as she is fit as a fiddle, and full of beans, taking great delight in all the exciting new things that pet life brings.
She had one 'accident' in the house on her first night out of the kennels, and hasn't had any since. In general, she seems to prefer to spend her time outside on a soft bed, rather than inside. Quite the independent little girl, she'll amuse herself happily with poking about the garden, and will be thrilled when you have time to play.
Tory is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heart worm treated, and worm and flea treated. Her vet history will be provided to her adopter.
Would you like to meet this lovely girl? If you have a fully fenced property, and can offer Tory a caring home either as an only dog or with a relaxed male dog, please do get in touch!
