Bear ~ Staffy X (trial 9/9/15)

I’m a (nearly) 6 month old Staffy X, and now that my vaccinations are finished I’m on the hunt for my forever family.

I’ve spent the last month and a half with my young(ish) foster parents, their 4 month old baby and their 2 cats. I just love lying next to the baby, but they won’t leave me alone with her because I like to lick her (a lot). Their cats have been very rude to me, despite my efforts to win them over. I barked at them once when I first met them (give me a break, I’d never met a cat before!!!) but they won’t let it go. They hiss and swipe at me whenever I try to make amends, so I’ve learnt to be very submissive and patient with them. I still try to win them over with my ‘downward dog’ yoga pose from time to time – but they want none of it. So rude. I feel that time might have healed this relationship, but my plans to move won’t see this through.

I’m currently sleeping outside in my cosy dog kennel, and I spend most of the day out there. After my 6pm dinner sitting I’m allowed inside until bed time. I’m slowly getting the hang of house training – but I’ve had a couple of slip ups since starting my training a few weeks ago. \ A little more training in this area will be very helpful and my foster parents are helping me get there via treat training. I’ve learnt to ‘sit’ and ‘play fetch’ this way – although I don’t always feel like playing fetch. I’ll let you know on the day how I’m feeling. I can be very distracted when being asked to ‘sit’ and ‘fetch’ if there are unfamiliar people around, but I do my best.

I just LOVE other dogs!! My foster family had some friends over a couple of weeks ago who brought their 2 staffys over to play with me and it was so much fun! We all had a great time and we even snuggled together in my kennel at night despite their other bedding options. I was sad to see them go. If you have other dogs I’m all for it!! I have a lot of energy though so a young to middle aged sibling would be fantastic! Older dogs may not appreciate my enthusiasm.

I can be a bit of a ‘boof head’ at times as I am easily excited, and I am very strong – so older parents may not be suited to me. I like to be walked daily to help burn off some of my energy – as I don’t do much during the day while my foster parents are working.

I am a sweet, darling boy who’ll take any attention I can get. You might also be pleased to know that I am not a barker. That’s not to say that I can’t bark, or that I don’t ever bark – but my barking is extremely minimal.

My adoption fee is $400 and includes desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and micro chipping.
