About Sammi
Sweet little Sammi is one of the most heartbreaking fosters I've cared for. Used as a breeding machine and shown not an ounce of love, this gorgeous girl came into Wally's care in June absolutely terrified of humans. Whatever she had been through, her trust in us was gone, completely. She has been with me for the past 6 weeks, in a loving home with 6 other dogs, 3 children (17,13 & 9) and my husband and I. Whilst she still has many fears to overcome, this precious soul has come so far and you can clearly see she WANTS to trust us.
I feel that it's time for Sammi to continue her rehabilitation in her very own home, with a family who have the time and patience and understanding needed to keep building her trust up. She loves other dogs and has not had an issue with any of her foster buddies in care. Due to her fear of people, Sammi will need a home where she will have another furry friend to keep her company and help settle her into her new home.
Sammi knows her name well and will come within eyesight of you when called. As her trust in you builds, she will eventually come right to you and accept pats and cover your hands in kisses. She loves her food and is currently on a diet of Blackhawk kibble, chicken mince, vegies and rice and will 'dance' at dinnertime. The excitement on her little face makes me smile each and every night and sometimes laugh! Food is definitely going to be the easiest way to gain her trust in you. This little girl smiles up at me every afternoon when I get home, will greet me with tiny paws on my legs and walk right beside me wherever I go but there is still a degree of fear when you directly show her affection or attention. I honestly believe that in time, she will overcome this.
Sammi uses the doggie door to come and go while we are home when she needs to go to the toilet, but has had the odd accident inside. This should not be an issue in her new home if your existing dog/s are toilet trained as she will follow their lead. We've had no issues with giving Sammi a bath (other than having to allow extra time to get her in there) and since coming into care, she's been groomed.
If your looking for a lap dog, Sammi may not be the right girl for you. But if your looking for a companion for your existing dog, and you understand that whilst she probably won't come near you at a meet and greet, with some patience, perseverance and lots of love and understanding, this quirky little girl will put a smile on your face everyday.

Please contact Vanessa via email only should you wish to meet Sammi. Email will ensure a faster response.
When enquiring about Sammi, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
