Savannah ~ Bull Arab (on trial 5/10/15)

If you’re wishing to find yourself a big dog then please SIT and STAY for a moment while I tell you about Savannah.

Savannah is a bull arab girl around 15 months old. She has the most expressive face I’ve seen on any dog for quite some time, and just looking at her makes you laugh. She looks you right in the eye with a puzzled frown if she doesn’t understand why you do something, and sometimes she stamps her front feet and tries to talk. Of course it’s never intelligible, but I’m pretty sure she’s after a second dinner, or an immediate walk, or something else that’s unlikely to happen. She’s very pretty, with lovely eyes and a beauty spot just near her mouth.

It may not surprise you to know that this girl is a real boof-head. She’s very playful and, despite her size, she skips around the yard like a hippopotamus in ballet shoes, knocking over her water bucket, chasing anything that flies and buzzes, and nosing into things like a young pup. Sometimes, when you’re walking through her run, she comes up behind you and gives you a nudge, just to see you go a bit faster. No doubt she thinks it’s very funny. At her foster-carers house her best mate is Blu the cattle dog, and they love to wrestle and play tug o’ war. When they wrestle poor Blu usually ends up underneath, which is not very good for his male pride, but he’s no match for Savannah’s size. It’s always good fun, and no one gets hurt.

Naturally Savannah is a strong dog and would be best managed by an owner who can take a strong hand with her. She loves cuddles and is very people-orientated, wishing to be with someone all the time. She was very thin when she first came into rescue, and at that time she was quite capable of jumping a fence if she thought she might find her foster-carer in the garden, but since she has put on weight it doesn’t seem to happen. Still, as a precaution, it would be essential that her new family not have low fences.

We have not seen Savannah with children but she has such a good nature it is unlikely she would not love them. The only consideration would be her size when it comes to very small children, as she could knock them over in play.

We’ve no idea what she’s like with cats, but quite possibly she has never met one before and might enjoy a chase.

Savannah is located near Raymond Terrace, and only 10 -15 minutes from the end of the M1 coming up from Sydney. Savannah is also available for interstate adoption.
