About Meg (Dog/Cat Friendly)
The gorgeous Meg, was saved by Wally's Doggie Rescue from a large breeding facility, where she lived the first 6 years of her life in a cage.
Meg has been in foster care in a family environment with two children age 6 and 9 years, 2 adult cats, 4 adult dogs, and two other puppies. Meg is a sweet gentle girl, who is very timid and takes a long time to warm to you before she will come close enough for pats. Meg is not phased by the cats, and just wonders on pass them. Meg loves to follow her foster siblings host dogs around and can be very anxious and will bark if she can not be with them. Meg has been in foster care for over 7 weeks and has come so far since then. Meg always has a wagging tail and is happy to see you, but does trust her foster siblings more than she trust her humans.
Meg will thrive in her forever home with another dog to keep her company. Meg has never shown any aggression towards other dogs and or towards her food, or her bedding. Meg prefers to be ignored around strangers and does not like direct eye contact. Meg can not be approached by walking up to her with your hands out, she prefers to approach you when you are sitting down or if you get down low and approach her, Meg is accepting of pats. Meg does not like loud noises (hammer/leaf blower/lawnmower/screaming children) and will remove herself from the house or backyard. Meg has been fine during the recent thunder storms as well.
Meg will need an experience dog owner, who may have experience with rehabilitating dogs and showing life outside of a cage. Meg still needs alot of time and patience and I feel as her foster carer is ready to make the next journey into her forever home.
Meg is fed a premium diet of Royal Canin biscuits and raw chicken mince. Meg will happily share her bowl with her foster siblings, but does eat her food rather quickly, when placed in front of her.
Meg is learning to be inside dog and is almost completely toilet trained, despite her background. Meg is happy to wear a collar with her tag on it but does not like the lead attached to it. In foster care Meg is learning to wear a harness and walk in the front yard with a harness on, but must have her foster host dog or dogs with her, to make her feel comfortable.
Meg can not navigate more than two steps, and has to be carried up and down her foster homes stairs and would be best if Meg lives in a single storey home.
Meg is microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and flea/heartworm treated and desexed and is available for adoption, to the right home!
A meet and greet of the beautiful Meg can be arranged.
Adoption details
When enquiring about Meg, please give us some indication of the type of home that she would have with you. We are interested in things such as other animals (past and present), children who may have contact with the dog, whether you own or rent your home, what opportunities for socialisation outside the home your dog would have, how much you/someone is home and most importantly, why you feel this dog may be suitable for you.
Wally's Dog Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
To kickstart my training, Wyong Dog Training Club will provide 3 FREE dog training sessions
http://wyongdogtrainingclub.org.au/. So please be sure to utilise this awesome gift which will benefit both you and Meg.
Wally's Doggie Rescue likes all of our rescues to be adopted into families that will continue their socialisation and allow their dogs inside of the home on a regular basis to ensure that they are part of the family. This is particulary so if they are to be an only dog.
Meg is located on Central Coast in Green Point, NSW.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
