About Bettsie (Adoption Pending)
Hi my name is Bettsie. I am a lovable Australian Terrier x Chihuahua. I am 8 years old.
I was not coping well in the shelter environment so the lovely people at CRQ rescued me. However since being in my foster home I have blossomed into a very loving dog who loves to play as well as lounge around like a couch potato. In the past I have lived with a cat, and whilst I wasn’t aggressive towards it, I did tend to be overly keen sometimes and barked at it.
My wonderful foster carer has worked out that I can’t really hear well. Doesn’t stop her from talking to me though.. I see her lips move.. I can hear when she whistles to me and I love it when she uses her hands.. I know exactly what she wants me to do.
Now that I have fully recovered from my patella surgery I am free to explore the house and yard and I get to play with the other dogs and children I live with. I simply adore all the attention they lather on me. My all time favourite activity is to lay back and get cuddles and get my belly scratched .. Oh and don’t forget behind the ear… I LOVE it when you rub me there…
And if you want to take me places.. Please do. I love going in the car. Oh and I love going for walks. I get to wear my pretty harness and toddle off everywhere. It’s great to use all my legs again.
I am not yet fully house trained however I am working on it as well as my manners and basic obedience. It's a bit hard at the moment because I spent all that time in my crate, but I am getting there.
My perfect home is someone who would love to include me in their day to day lives. Someone who would be happy for me to sit with them at the end of the day and scratch my belly.
If you think that I would fit into your family please feel free to contact the lovely people here at Chihuahua Rescue QLD.
Love Bettsie xxx
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Bettsie came to us with skin issues, arthritis and deteriorating vision. Thanks to the loving care of her foster family, her health has improved greatly since being in care. Whilst in our care, Bettsie was treated for her skin and ear infections. She required surgery on her luxating patella and is now ready for adoption
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address:
http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Kczrs885x4lq3N9u4mQhca
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
