Flynn, senior kelpie boy (Trial 21/7/15)

Introducing Flynn, 11yo kelpie boy. Don't let his age fool you, he is the first one to the front door when it's time for a walk! Afterwards he spends his afternoons soaking up the winter sun on his day bed. Flynn has spent many years working the land, so it's just the last few months he has experienced the joy of actually being a pet. Flynn loves to be in the company of his humans. Although he tolerates others dogs, he prefers to spend his time with people and is quite a social butterfly, making friends wherever he goes!

Flynn is settling into his foster family well and is starting to enjoy toys and can occasionally be found in a game of tug of war with his foster sister. At 11 years, we hope that Flynn has many more years of his retirement left. He has some typical senior issues: a touch of arthritis and slight hearing deficit and his eyesight is not as sharp as it used to be.

Just like us at this time of year, Flynn is finding the winter very cold! Given his age and older joints it's important he is allowed to sleep inside and provided with a soft bed. He just can't get his head around the idea of a jacket but he's certainly enjoying other benefits of being off the farm as he quite enjoys a brush, a bath and a ride in the car.

Flynn is currently living with children but does find them a little too intrusive on his personal space so it would be best he live with older children or a home with adults. He is quite small for his breed so finds large dogs very intimidating. Perhaps we could say he's a good judge of character, picking and choosing which dogs he will be friends with. For this reason it would be recommended he live with another mature dog or a small dog that won't expect him to play. However being such a people oriented dog, he would love to have all your attention to himself.

Flynn can sit for his dinner, travels in the car beautifully and walks well on a lead. He is very keen to please you and is building trust with his foster family as they treat him the way he deserves. He is a gentle soul with a big smile and when he smiles, you can't help but smile along with him!
