About Dobby
Dobby is the sweetest little guy - he is placid, quiet and loving. Dobby can be a bit shy when you first meet him, but wait until he comes out of his shell, he just loves to play! When he first came into care, he was a bit fearful of new dogs but his wonderful foster carer has been working hard with him helping him regain trust and he now loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home.
We would recommend a confident and experienced owner for Dobby as he can be timid, but he is very gentle natured and loving. Older children are fine but he finds rowdy little ones a bit scary.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
Dobby needed a prolapsed eyelid (aka "Cherry Eye") surgically repaired when he came to us but he is healing well from surgery. He had to have a few teeth out as his teeth were misaligned and causing discomfort but we see no problems in the future now this has been dealt with.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.

The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.

Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Chermside vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
