About Elsie ~ Red Kelpie (on trial 1/8/15)
Hi my name is Elsie and I am a 1 year old Red Kelpie.
I love living with my foster family but the time has come for me to find my forever family. I am a quiet gentle girl who unfortunately, somewhere in my past has been treated badly. Whilst this hasn’t made me angry, it has made very nervous about certain things. So to make it easier for you, I have compiled a list of things my future family needs to have.
Patience: As I said I still get unsure some times and occasionally still do things like go to the toilet in the house. My foster family and I are working on this by making sure I don’t have access to areas they don’t want me in and taking me out to the toilet before I go to bed.
Another Dog: I currently have older staffy cross foster brothers who I love. There has also been a couple of foster girls who have now gone to be with their forever families since I came to live here. Having so many other dogs to learn from, my confidence is growing all the time so I need another older doggy companion (preferable male) to help me to keep improving.
Let Me Sleep Inside: I am a good girl and stay on my doggy bed during the night. I do go outside when my foster family goes out, but I am allowed in when they are home. They have never left me overnight outside and I don’t think I would like it.
Be able to walk me in quiet areas: I am happy to walk with you but I don’t like cars going past me. Also long leads aren’t really my thing as I hate getting my legs caught in them. Give me a short lead I can’t get caught in and a quiet area, I am your perfect walking companion, especially if there is another dog for company.
My foster family are very proud of me and how I am improving all the time but just to be sure, I need a family local to the Hunter Valley so that there is time for lots of meet and greets before you take me forever.
If you think you might be perfect for me, please get in contact with my foster mum Darlene 0438346668 (text preferred) or email stepbowpet@hotmail.com Elsie is in foster care in Singleton, NSW (2330).

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
