Jack ~ Cattle dog x staffy (On Trial 5/11/16)

Jack is a bubbly 4 year old cattle dog x staffy who is funky and fun. Jack has a real soft spot for belly rubs. If he could talk he would say:
"That’s the spot, a little more to the left, that’s it! I’ll give you ten minutes to keep up that belly rubbing, then you can give me a back scratch and a head massage would be nice too, oh and don’t forget my neck, right under the collar thank you!! I'll give you adoring kisses and cuddles to thank you afterwards!"

As well as being a great receiver and giver of cuddles, he's also extremely good at making people smile and laugh. He's a clown and he will entertain you with his mischievous loveable antics. There's more to this cuddly clown than cheekiness and striking looks, though - Jack is also very clever and he will do anything for a treat. He can Sit and Drop for pats and would love to learn more tricks. He would be fantastic at agility or other doggy sports as he is very eager to please you and be rewarded. He just loves to have fun and be involved in the action.

Jack loves working out how to get treats you leave in kongs and boxes and he loves games like tracking and finding smears of peanut butter you leave around the yard. He loves squeaky toys so much that at times he will bury them for safe keeping. He gets a bone each day and will chomp on it for hours.

He will win you over just like the catchy 90's song “Jack-Jack Jackie!” \ Jack loves it when you sing this song to him - you’ll have both the song and Jack’s cheerful antics on your mind all day long (everyone loves a 90’s flashback!)

Jack lives with his foster buddy Kota the kelpie and they love exploring the backyard together -they wrestle, play tug-of-war, chasies and laze about in the sunshine. They snuggle together at night keeping each other cosy. He can be a little bossy with other dogs until he's used to them and then he shows them his true loveable, snuggly and super fun self.

Jack isn't in foster care with children and he is better suited to teenage kids as he could knock over little ones in his excitement during games. He's also learning that play nips during playtime are not doggy manners. He is toilet trained when inside and loves a diet of mince, pasta, and veggies to keep him healthy.

Jack's favourite time of day is going for a walk. He starts off pretty excited, but after the initial excitement he will settle. If you say his name, he will come to you for a pat and to be told he is a good boy. He likes everyone he meets on his walk to pat him and will sometimes roll over at new people’s feet for a belly rub. He is learning doggy manners by not jumping up in his excitement to say hi, and not to bark at other dogs and cats that he sees out walking.

Jack is currently being trained that inside the house is a quiet space and is working on settling down when he comes inside. Like most dogs, he is far more content if he's had a daily walk and a good run around with his doggy pals during the day. He loves to snuggle up with Kota and his humans and watch TV before sleeping soundly the whole night in a back cosy room with Kota.

Jack would best suit an active family, couple or single who is after a loyal and friendly companion as part of their family. He wouldn't suit being an outside yard dog as he is far too people focused and like any active breed he would get bored and chew things if isolated. He would love a yard to run around in.
