Shimmer

Have you heard? Shimmer is looking for her new forever home!Shimmer is a very friendly sweet girl. Since arriving at the shelter staff have been working with Shimmer for sometime and helped her become the fun loving sweet girl that she is today. Shimmer will need to stay socialised with strangers and new environments to help keep a positive association with these things by using yummy treats and verbal encouragement/praise. Because Shimmer can be unsure of new things/places we are recommending she goes to a household with older children over 12 years of age. Shimmer does have a playful and energetic side but also loves to curl up on a lounge or bed for quiet family time for pats and cuddles. She would be best suited to go home to a family that can allow for her to be an inside/outside dog through the day and then can sleep inside on her own bed of a night.Shimmer has learnt to sit mat settle and drop while at the shelter but sometimes likes to jump up when she gets really excited. Please continue with ongoing training using positive reinforcement techniques to help keep her manners in good condition. Here at the shelter Shimmer has been matched up with several dogs different sizes breeds and genders and runs a muck and has a ball every time. Shimmer can play rough with other doggie friends at times so if you have another dog at home and are thinking about adopting Shimmer please bring them in to do a meet and greet to make sure they get along.Shimmer is best suited to a household with no cats or pocket pets as she sometimes thinks its a fun furry toy. Please ensure that your backyard is fully secure with at least 5ft fencing with no holes or gaps in the fence line that Shimmer could fit through.
