About Boston ~ Adopted May 2017
I'm Boston and people tell me I'm a typical playful goofy Boxer. I'm not a purebred boxer, I'm a mix (possibly with Ridgeback?) so I have the famous Boxer clown personality but without the famous boxer drool! I'm 9 years old but I still think of myself as a young lad who just so happens to be grey around my face (that means I'm distinguished right?). Even though I'm young at heart, I can have my quiet and serious reflective moments too (don’t we all get those as we get older and wiser?)
I get on well with other medium and large size playful dogs. I'm happy to join them in a game with toys and to run around like a youngster. My size is too big for little dogs though, they find my gangly legs and loping games too intimidating so I'm best suited with dogs my own size. I love toys (don't we all?) and I think pocket pets like rabbits are toys too so I'm best suited to a home without any squeaky little critters to play with!
I'm very people focused as I consider myself to be a bit of a human. I love to lean on you and have at least part of me touching you if you're sitting or just hanging out. I like to be a lapdog. I'm pretty good at hanging out with you, so if you want a best buddy by your side then I'm your man. I'm good with kids, especially older kids and teenagers who want a loyal canine companion. I'm content to play games and join in with whatever activities they like. Due to my playfulness and long wagging tail I'm probably best with bigger kids who won't be knocked over (or knocked out!) by my happy waggy tail. I would be quite content in a single dog family - even though I enjoy the company of other dogs I'm also quite independent and don't need to be always entertained.
I spent quite a bit of time in the pound and the staff there said I dealt quite well with the busy and noisy environment and the other dogs – I always had a smile on my face. When it was all too noisy I would just curl up in a ball and put myself to bed. I love walking and am keen to join you on a daily walk around the neighbourhood or a play at the park if you have one close by. If you throw a ball or toy, I’ll happily run around with it and keep myself entertained playing. I will need 6 foot fencing to keep me safe and sound as I’m a bit of a social fellow if I’m left alone for long periods of time and I’ll try to say hi to the neighbours.
In Boxer terms at 9 years old I'm a bit of a senior as we don't have a particularly long lifespan unfortunately. However with me being a Boxer cross hopefully I've got quite a few years in me yet - I certainly don’t act like a senior! My wish is to find myself a loving furever family who will give me a warm welcoming environment for the rest of my senior years. I would love to sleep inside with my family as I've spent more than my fair share of time sleeping outside

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
