About Portia *On Trial in Her New Home*
*PORTIA IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HER NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet adorable Portia! She’s one of a litter of healthy, happy puppies who were born in early March. Her mum is a Mastiff cross and her dad is a Red Heeler cross Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog so she’s a bit of a mixture.
Portia can be a bit timid with new people or in situations she’s unsure of though introduce her to another dog/pup and then you’ll see her confident side as she adores other dogs which is why we’d like to see her in a forever home with one especially if they’re playful like she is! In care with a 9 month old pup the two of them play hard, tumbling about the yard until they’re exhausted then they’ll curl up near each other for a nap in the winter sunshine. Once Portia gets to know her humans she’s friendly, affectionate and really gentle and enjoys cuddles on your lap while you watch tv; she’s quite the snuggle-bunny.
With the help of treats (which she loves!) Portia is learning the basics such as “sit” and “down”. She’s mastered the doggie door and takes herself in and out though mostly prefers to be outside where the doggie action is. She hasn’t spent much time on a lead as she needed to be fully vaccinated before getting out and about so will need some practice with this in her forever home. Portia is currently in care with a cat who she shows a little bit too much interest in so a cat-free household would be best.

As Portia is pretty-much housetrained and sleeps inside at night she would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with a doggie companion to learn from. Being a young pup she will require ongoing obedience training as well as socialisation with other dogs so she grows up to have lovely manners. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with will make Portia very happy indeed!!

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
