About Kasper ~ Jack Russell X (on trial 21/7/15)
Introducing Kasper, a young 12 month old, 7.3kg Jack Russell X. He is a lively, very affectionate and intelligent dog and wants to be involved in everything we do. He is very inquisitive, but is not destructive. He has not touched our shoes left outside. He gets on very well with our small dog loving to play chase and wrestle but knows he is not the alpha dog. They sleep together in the laundry and quite often share the same bed. He is house trained and knows how to use the pet door.
He loves to sit on our laps when we are watching TV and give us lots of licks and kisses or just snuggles in and has a snooze.
He loves to go for walks and gets very excited when we pick up his lead. He is learning to sit to have his lead put on. Initially he tends to pull on the lead as he is very inquisitive and likes to sniff every tree and bush and anything else which gets his attention but is learning to walk quietly with a slack lead. He is also learning to sit and wait before crossing a road. He gets very excited when we meet other dogs and is very wary of large dogs. We have begun training him to approach other dogs quietly and socialise with them.
He responds to his name and comes when called. He is an intelligent dog and is responding well to training. He is generally quiet but lets us know if someone approaches our house. He will make a good watch dog – he has a deep bark. When left alone with our dog he remains quiet.
Kasper grew up with his parents and fretted for the first couple of days and needed lots of attention. Initially he tried to escape so will need a secure yard.
But he quickly settled down and now considers this his home and now runs up to the gate to be let in when we return from our walks. Ideally he should have another small dog as a 24/7 playmate or someone at home full time.
Kasper grew up with a single man so he has no experience with children, so he’s not suitable for families with children under 10. He would make an ideal companion for an active retiree[s] or a family with older children.
For more information or to meet Kasper, please contact his foster carer Ray or Brenda on02 4919 0370 or email raytaylor001@bigpond.com. Kasper is in foster care in Anna Bay 2316, NSW (Port Stephens North of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Kasper's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
