About Daphne ** special needs kitten **
Come and meet our very special little girl Daphne!
Our little 'special needs' girl has Cerebellar hypoplasia (see medical notes below), but she is super friendly and will love a safe home to call her own!
Daphne likes to head-butt you for kisses and is a very affectionate little kitty. She will make you laugh with her very funny kitten antics and funny personality!
She has a slight but noticeable head wobble and can sometimes be a little off balance when rubbing up against you for attention however her condition is not sever and she manages with it very well.
Daphne would live to be an only kitty as she can tend to scare other cats with her tumours, she has not been around dogs before however she may be fine with a gentle and cat-savvy dog that gives her space to settle in.
She will need to be an inside only cat for life as she will no be able to fend for herself outdoors.

Medical notes
Daphne was born with Cerebellar hypoplasia. The disease does not get better or worse with age, but the affected animal can usually learn to somewhat compensate for it and should have a normal lifespan. Afflicted animals can lead a fairly normal life if special considerations for the animal's disability are taken by the pet's owner.
Usually symptoms of cerebellar hypoplasia can be seen immediately at birth in cats. Cerebellar hypoplasia causes jerky movements and generally uncoordinated motion. Tremors can increase when the animal is excited and subside when at ease but settle as the animal settles. Daphne's condition is not severe and she should be able to live a long and happy life despite her 'disability'.
There are many ways to avoid injuries for cats or dogs with Cerebral Hypoplasia and to allow them to live full lives as any other pet would. Carpeted flooring allows the animal to move around with much more ease. Essentially "baby proofing" sharp corners or heavy objects that could potentially fall on the animal is also important.

Daphne is located at our Adoption Centre 1/30-34 Adrian Rd Campbellfield VIC - open for meet & greets / adoptions 9am-4pm. Always best to give us a call first (9357 0834) before you come down to avoid any disappointments if you have your heart set on a particular sweetheart, however we will always have many fur-babies for you to meet & hopefully fall in love!
