Sarsha

Hi, my name is Sarsha and I’m a three year old husky cross. I look very much like a pure bred husky but I’m a bit smaller, about the size of a regular cattle dog.

I have had a rough time in my short life so I need a home where I can feel safe and continue to build my confidence. This means that I would be better suited to a home with no children under the age of 12, as I can get very scared if you do something to me that reminds me of my past, such as pulling on my tail or grabbing my muzzle.

Despite my past, it doesn’t take me very long to warm to you if you are nice to me, and I get a big smile on my face whenever you interact with me, just like you can see in my photos. I absolutely adore cuddling up to you on the couch but I’m just as happy to sleep at your feet or in my bed if you prefer. I have excellent manners, I always sit for my meals or treats and I am completely house trained, even when introduced to a new environment. I have definitely outgrown my puppy tendencies; I don’t jump up on people and only gentle correction is required to tell me if I’m doing something wrong.

I have learned very quickly that I am not allowed to take anything off the coffee table, you can even leave a plate of food there and I won’t try and snatch it. The husky in me wants to pull you along when we go on a walk, but I am much better if you get me a proper harness and my foster mum can show you the one she uses, which makes walking me a dream, I’ll even sit still for you to put it on me because I love my walks so much. We turn heads everywhere we go, everyone wants to have a pat and I am fine with that, as long as they stay away from my sensitive areas.

I am an only dog at the moment and I need to stay that way for the time being as I don’t get along with other dogs when I am introduced, but I am happy to sniff at them if they are not paying attention. My foster mum thinks this is because I am scared and that maybe over time I’ll get better and be able to play nicely with others. In the meantime I am more than happy to live in a home with just humans, who I love to bits. I haven’t been tested with cats, but given my past I would be better in a home without little furries of any kind.

I am ready for my forever home, where ideally I can live with people who have had experience with my breed or are happy to work with me on my issues. I have a lot of love to give, but need to be treated with lots of love and affection in return.
