About Lucy ~ Staffy X Kelpie (on trial 15/8/15)
Lucy is an 11 month old Staffy x Kelpie. Lucy has a huge and cheeky personality. Lucy has many facial expressions and sounds she makes depending on what is happening around her. She can definitely pull off the puppy dog eyes making your heart melt each and every time. Lucy will hi 5 and shake hands. She will often put her paw on your lap or arm and is content to just be around you.
Lucy would be suited to a family with older children over 8 years old as she does get excited and can accidentally knock little ones over. Lucy loves children and is very affectionate. She loves cuddles and kisses. Lucy loves most other dogs but her new owners will need to be understanding that with certain dogs Lucy will not like to be dominated. Lucy loves her foster sister who is also a kelpie x and is the same size, they play a lot together.
Lucy has all basic training down pat, however will need a few weeks to feel comfortable with her new owners and surroundings as she is very loyal and will mostly only listen to her foster mum. Lucy should remain on her lead in public places until she is comfortable with her new family. With regular training and consistency Lucy is a great companion to have around. Lucy needs lots of company, so either another playful dog her size or a family that's home often enough to meet her needs.
Lucy loves tug of war with her foster sister, enjoys chewing on bones, Lucy is not protective about her food or bones at home, but if there is an unknown dog around she may growl at the unknown dog while eating or chewing on her bone. Lucy will play fetch and loves treat releasing toys.
Lucy is yet to meet someone who doesn't adore her, with her beautiful face, colouring and gentle personality she brings joy to everyone that meets her. Lucy can be inside and outside, if inside she needs to be taken out to the toilet every 3-4 hours but will sleep through the night without an accident inside. She loves to sleep wherever you are, she is happy to sleep on a bed on the floor but always enjoys a snuggle in bed.
Lucy loves lying in the sun, going on walks, engaging in training and meeting new people. Lucy is absolutely adored and loved, she will be dearly missed.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
