Callie is our longest resident dog in SHARI and we know she really wants a forever home of her own.

Callie is one of the saddest stories we have come across. She came into care in an extremely poor state nearly a year ago. She left our transporters in tears (and believe us, we see some bad things!) She had no hair on her body, and nothing but black skin, cracked sore and itchy. She also had 3 babies she was trying her best to feed and protect while she was in the freezing cold pound. She was taken to the vet that day where they determined that she had one of the most severe cases of demodex that they have every seen, this was left untreated for a long time before she was saved resulting in some areas around her back legs that would never grow back.

Thankfully this gorgeous girl has responded very well to treatment and is now mite free. She does still have some hair loss but this is not a medical concern that will cause future problems.

Callie is fiercely loyal to the ones she loves and just wants to stand by your side and stare at you lovingly - waiting for any command you may have for her. She is a little excitable but extremely obedient and is just a dream to have around. She is great with other dogs but prefers a male doggy friend. Callie is only about 30kg- she is a medium/large sized girl.

One thing Callie loves is children, she forms a very special bond with them and follows them around everywhere. She would be the perfect first dog for a family and is even fantastic with children with disabilities such as autism.
