About Miski (D2977)
Looking for a dog full of character who loves to be around people, and also makes a good watch dog? Miski is devoted to her family and their friends and knows just when to bark. She’s an active girl who loves to run and play. She will need daily exercise and plenty of time with her owners to keep her on the straight and narrow, as she is very smart.
Miski has had a chequered life. She was originally found in the Kimberley as a 6 week old pup with severe heatstroke. The people who found her adopted her and she is a much loved family dog. Her owners are devastated about surrendering her but are moving overseas. Used to sleeping inside and being included as part of the family, Miski even comes to get the parents when the baby cries. She wants to lick and snuggle up to the baby, and weighing in at 22kg, we think she’s much better suited to either no children or else a family with older children who can be consistent with her training. She loves to snuggle up under the blankets with her loved ones on the couch and enjoys playing with well socialised dogs.
Miski makes an ideal watchdog. She will only bark at unfamiliar sounds - such as a car, or someone unknown at the door - and only for one minute. If neighbours she knows, pop their head over the fence and say “Hi Miski", she stops. She’s done her job!
While Miski walks beautifully on the Halti lead, she does have a couple of faults related to being out and about, but they are all manageable for an experienced dog owner, especially someone who’s owned Staffies which we think is part of her breeding. Firstly, she likes to chase cats, so a water spray bottle is carried on walks. Secondly, she gets very excited about being off lead and will take off towards other people or dogs, so is only let off when there’s no-one around. Lastly, she won’t back down from a dog that’s aggressive towards her and responds by snarling and baring her teeth. Her owner keeps her moving away from the aggressive dog, slackens the lead and Miski quickly settles.
Medical notes
She is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated house trained and very healthy.
