About Sophie
Sophie is a beautiful greyhound x with a lot of love to give to the right family. She is currently being fostered by a young couple, and has bonded extremely well to both family members. Sophie is very people oriented and has lavished her carers with love and kisses. She enjoys two brisk walks a day and is happiest after exercise when she can just chill out. Sophie is very well behaved when left alone and tends to just sleep but she loves human company and would prefer not to be left alone for too long. Sophie has become a beautiful looking dog since being rehabilitated at her foster home as she was very thin when first rescued. She now has a good appetite and looks forward to her meals, which makes her very easy to train as she is food motivated but not at all food aggressive. In fact you can take sophie's food away in the middle of dinner with no reaction whatsoever from her.
She is very good at the basic commands (sit, stay, drop) and responds well to hand and voice commands. When walking with sophie, it is very important not to let her off the lead. Being from the sight hound breed, she loves to follow moving objects and will take chase if given the chance. Her reactions to other dogs are varied, but generally sophie gets very excited if she spots another dog on her walks and pulls to get closer so she can play with them. Because of this, sophie would suit a home with a big backyard and where she can get rid of her energy by playing ball or running around with her owners away from the distractions of the outside world before going out for a walk. She loves her toys and the more often you throw them the better it is for sophie as she is a highly intelligent, young dog with lots of energy. As sophie is a strong dog we recommend her family consist of children over 12 years of age and have lots of time available to spend with this gorgeous girl. Since being fostered by the young couple she has met many visitors including small children with good results. She is wary around strangers at first though and would prefer a family without too many new people coming and going on a regular basis. Sophie is used to sleeping on her bed in the corner of the lounge room so would need to go to a home where she can sleep indoors. She is house trained and knows good house manners! she would prefer not to be around cats or other dogs as she loves all the attention and is totally people oriented. sophie will reward you over and over again with her beauty, intelligence and undying love for her human family. Sophie comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, nsw local council lifetime registered for an adoption fee of $0.
