Gypsy..dog, cat. chook and child friendly

May I introduce to you beautiful Gypsy, or Chips. (Gyps shortened sort of!)

Gypsy is a beautiful girl of 2 years 9months, Greyhound cross Pharoah Hound.

She is a lovely natured girl who would make a wonderful family pet. I have 3 young

children, the youngest being 1, so Gypsy is use to being climbed on and over loved

without batting an eyelid.

I would relate Gyspy to being like a teenager. She is a bit gawky and silly, and needs

boundaries. Like a teenager, she tries to get away with things such as jumping on the

couch uninvited. Her hearing is often selective!

She loves to play ball although still trying to understand that in order to have the ball

thrown time after time, she needs to drop it!

She also has some soft toys she loves to tackle and have tug of war with.

Gyspy responds well to a good tummy rub, often rolling over and putting her legs up

in the air for better range of tickle time obviously! She is a real smoocher.

Gypsy will often initiate play being a young dog, but is also happy to have her

comfortable bed in the sun, and sleep away the day.

When she plays with my dog, there is no malice or aggression from too much

excitement, it is pure play. She really has fun. But stand back as she can run like crazy

and she does not no how to change direction when excited.

Gypsy would benefit from some training being a young dog. She is very food

orientated so training her would not be difficult. She knows the basics of sit and drop,

but is a bit of a puller on the lead. Being a big dog, learning her manners for walking

will be better for her forever owner as she is strong. She is by no means naughty on

the lead though, and is still a pleasure to walk.

She is a greedy eater so her food intake needs to be monitored or she will turn into a

fatty boomba and be quite happy with that!

Gypsy is good with food in her bowl and people being around her while eating. In fact

my 6 year old can tell her to stop eating, take her bowl away, make her sit, and return

her bowl to her. There is definitely no food aggression.

Gypsy would benefit from some training being a young dog. She is very food

She is a dog that would be better with the company of other dogs, or like her current

foster family, a stay at home family situation.

I am told she has been introduced in the past to cats, and is not bothered by them so

this is also a good combination.

She will definitely need strong discipline until she learns commands, but once she has

grasped them she will be a wonderful companion. She is a very smart and loyal dog.

Whoever adopts Gypsy will be very lucky to have her.
