About Rocky
This dear little dog was mistreated and neglected before coming into care. He was rescued by a wonderful lady who saw that he was in need, and then transferred to us. We immediately took him to the vet to have him health checked, particularly has his body was covered in cuts and scratches. All his beautiful long coat had been hacked off and he looks a mess.
When he came into care, he had a badly infected mouth however he has now had surgery and is healing well.
Rocky is a happy and sweet boy. He can be shy at first due to his mistreatment but he is never aggressive and is always gentle. Rocky loves his people and he loves other dogs. He is looking for a loving home who will provide him with the years of love he has missed out on so far.
Medical notes
When Rocky came into care, he was injured and had severe dental disease. Our vets ran comprehensive blood tests and examined him thoroughly. He required dental surgery and lots of love and care to get him healthy again. He is recovering well in foster care with our special Pom-expert carer who just adores him.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Moorooka or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/12529dMiAly65p5nEdDC
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Moorooka vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
