About Theodore ~ Beagle (on trial 2/6/15)
If you're after a bouncy, playful, mischievous beagle then I'm your man. My name is Theodore, I'm called Theo for short. I am still a baby at 11 months of age, many experienced beagle people will tell you it may take a few years for me to settle into that quiet, settled man with perfected manners, for now I'm still learning.
I have been taught my basic manners but get so excited that I forget to listen and still jump up to say hi, I have had a few accidental leg lifts in the house but have been so much better since being desexed. I am in indoor outdoor dog and bark at things in the darkness if left out at night. When I come inside I race around the house like a crazy boy and bound all over the furniture but I do settle after a few minutes.
I haven't chewed anything or damaged things but if you lock me outside when you are inside sometimes I bang and scratch at doors in protest for a little while before cuddling up in my bed in the sun.
I have 4 foot fences and bounce up on them to say hi to visitors but have never jumped out and I don't dig. I have been an only dog in my infant months but since coming into care have made friends with other beagles, kelpies, Chihuahuas and a kitten or two. I like to jump up to play with the cats and sometimes chase them to play but I stop when told they don't want to play. Sometimes the other dogs get annoyed at me as I want to play all the time and jump all over them licking and grabbing them in excitement.
My very best friends are other young playful dogs that don't take me too seriously and therefore I'm probably not suited to older friends or friends that are too small. I have been friendly and playful with human kids, but I may scare little ones as I am very fast and run through things in my way. I love going for walks and on a few occasions have run around off leash with my friends and came bounding back when called but I do need secure fencing and a nice big yard.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
