Atrayu

Atrayu is 9 years old and in need of a person or family who are dog intuitive/ experienced, have some faith and a big heart.

Atrayu's previous owner was devastated at having to give up his best mate. In Atrayu's 9 years he spent his days with his owner and also sometime with his owners friend who also had two medium sized dogs who were Atrayu's companions. Atrayu presented nothing but loyalty and love in this time but then his world as he knew it was completely changed, through no fault of his or his owners and at this time we naturally welcomed him into our care.

Since being with us and in foster care Atrayu has possessed behaviours of being very stressed and confused. He will pace the backyard and at times will growl when his personal space is invaded. It is important for Atrayu while in his stressed state to be introduced to people properly as they enter the house, he barks being very unsure who the person is.
While in foster care over the past week and a half his quirks have softened. His foster carers believe there is a good dog inside which is our feelings too, we have had faith in this senior boy from day one and are hopeful to find the right fit for him. This fit will be willing to show him how to trust again and provide him with the respect while he learns and settles.
We need anyone who is interesting in opening their hearts to Atrayu to understand that the defensive behaviour he has portrayed means you will need good dog experience, you will not have small children (larger is ok as he is currently living with a young adult), you will not have any small animals or livestock (he has lived with larger dogs before and this may even help settle him and build his confidence).
