About Morris ~ Maltese X Tibetan Spaniel (Trial 30/5/15)
Morris is a cheeky 3 year old Maltese x Tibetan spaniel with personality plus and the cutest puppy dog eyes you will ever see. At 7kg he is also a little pocket rocket; very playful and energetic!
Morris is loving and affectionate towards people and enjoys his walks, drives in the car, doggy friends, toys, cuddles and food (not a fussy eater). I have not allowed Morris off the leash so am not sure if he has good recall. I do not know if he is good with cats because I do not have one.
According to his records, Morris was a habitual escapee and had ended up in the pound more than once. Since his arrival, I have seen no signs of him wanting to escape; he seems very happy having doggy friends, a warm bed and plenty of food. Morris is very friendly and social and gets along well with other dogs; although he can be intimidated by large dogs initially.
From his known history and condition, I assume Morris was an outside dog. Since coming into care, he quickly learned to use the doggy door but is still not fully housetrained. Perhaps it is due to his past but he seems reluctant to go outside and gives a protest growl when I force the issue. I am sure when he realises he is not going to be locked outside he will be happier going outside.
Morris would be a perfect dog for most situations; although due to his size he would be best suited to a family without young children. A home with another playful dog would be ideal as this little fellow plays constantly.
At the moment, Morris has short hair, but his coat will grow and will need regular clipping and grooming approximately every 6-8 weeks with a bath every 3 weeks to keep him looking his best. When Morris was rescued from the pound, he was matted, riddled with fleas and underweight. \ Since coming into care he is sporting a new hair cut, has gained weight, had his little op and is now ready to go to his forever home.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
