About Tandi ~ Great Dane X Puppy (on trial 31/5/15)
Tandi is a very pretty 4 month old Great Dane x girl. She may have other breeds in her mix like ridgeback or mastiff. She is very sociable and loves to be around people all the time. She is very friendly and once she has met you she will give you hugs and cuddles and want to be your best friend. In fact, if given the choice she would spend her time in your arms or on your lap. She needs a family who can give her lots of attention.
Tandi is great with kids. \ She is currently in a home with 6 and 8 year old boys. She will play and run for ages. Even though she is a bigger breed mix, she has lots of energy and needs to go to a home where she will get lots of exercise or stimulation. She would be good in a home with children or other active family members. She prefers to be around someone most of the time, so a home with another dog, or someone who is home most of the time would be preferred.
Tandi is still working on toilet training. She mostly goes outside, but if left inside too long she can still have the occasional accident on the floor.
Tandi currently lives in a home with pocket pets, and she is not that interested in them, so would be fine to go to a home with pocket pets. Due to her breed, Tandi will need a yard with at least 6 foot fences around. The yard will need to a reasonable size as she is reasonably active.
Tandi is beginning to learn to walk on a lead. She is still a bit worried about the world outside her home, and will need a patient family who will give her time to adapt to her new home. \ Tandi is quickly learning to walk and run with her friend Tunza, her 4 month old foster brother who is also available for adoption. Tandi has been tried off the lead and she is beginning to recognise her name, but will need recall training as she grows older to ensure that she returns. She is already learning the commands sit, down, off, outside, no, and come. She still needs to practice, but she loves to receiving training as she gets very excited when she gets it right and gets lots of praise.
Tandi loves other dogs and loves to run and play chase with them. She very intelligent and is a fast learner. She has been quick to learn her boundaries with other dogs, and is getting better with doggy etiquette every day.
Tandi has been good in the car, and needs to be safely secured with hher doggy car harness for any car trips she takes.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
