About Zapper ~ terrier x kelpie (on trial 10/7/15)
Zapper is a very bubbly and energetic, 1yr old, male, terrier x kelpie. He is terrier size but with kelpie colouring and weighs 11kgs. He loves to play, whether it be by himself with a squeaky toy, or with our other dogs running and wrestling around the yard. Zapper loves being outside rolling and running around but he also loves to come inside and cuddle up next to you or another dog.
Zapper has a gorgeous personality and is very quick to fall in love with you, although for some reason he is a bit wary of males at first and tends to bark at them. However with a bit of patience and love he will warm to anyone. Most of all Zapper craves your praise and attention.
Zapper is still only young but knows some basic commands like sit and come, and is learning to wait for his food. He is very quick learner and would love to go to training classes or just have someone teach him new things. Zapper is currently living with our 1 and a half year old female Staffy and they just love to wrestle and play tug with each other. Although his foster family is trying to teach him out of it, he tends to jump up on people when he is excited so you would need to watch him around young children until he learns.
We would love for Zapper to find a loving family. Wherever Zapper goes he has to be allowed inside to be part of the family - including to sleep inside - otherwise he displays signs of anxiety and boredom. If there is no other dog to play with he will especially need extra attention from his human family. Most of all he needs your love and attention - he will pay you back a million times over with all his heart.
For more information or to meet Zapper, please contact his foster carer Annette on 0418 321 663 or email annetteoregan@hotmail.com. Zapper is in foster care in Thornton, NSW (near Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Zapper's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
