About Lolly (Special Needs)
Lolly is a sweet girl, who has had a tough life. She came to us very anxious and painful. We discovered that Lolly has spondylosis in her spine, which means she needs a gentle loving home. On regular pain relief, she is doing great.
Lolly is a Beagle crossed with a tiny breed, so she comes out to be quite literally a tiny beagle. She weighs less then 10kg and is the size of a large Jack Russel Terrier.
Lolly suffers from seperation anxiety, however we are working closely with a dog trainer and she is making wonderful progress.
Lolly is looking for a home who are experienced with dealing with anxious dogs and can give her the love and security she needs. Due to her painful back, she is best not to be adopted to a home with small children, however she is very sweet so older children are fine.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Lolly has had blood tests and thorough radiology. Her spinal lesion is from a previous injury and is very stable. This is an injury that is not likely to cause her long term problems, as long as she is cared for properly. Lolly needs a gentle, loving home.
Adoption details
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/12529dMiAly65p5nEdDC
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Moorooka vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
We have many dogs that are in foster care and are not yet ready to be listed for a variety of reasons. If you have a good idea of what you are looking for in your new dog please email us at chihuahuarescueqld@gmail.com and let us help you match a dog to your needs.
