About Frankie ~ Australian Shepherd (on trial 31/5/15)
Frankie is a 1 year old male Australian Shepherd, and possibly the happiest little boy you will ever meet. He has the most amazing different colour eyes and will look up at you with a smile on his beautiful face and a wag of his tail. He is such a handsome boy, everyone he meets falls instantly in love with him!
He is great with other dogs and his favourite games are playing tug of war, wrestles or chaises with his foster brother. He has just discovered balls and squeaky toys and loves to get these from his foster brother, which always instigates a game of chase. Frankie has not been tested with cats.
Frankie loves people! If you are looking for a best friend, then Frankie is your boy. He will snuggle up on the lounge next to you if you let him, or sit by your feet and look up at you with his twinkling eyes. He is very affectionate and loves getting a pat. If he wants your attention he will so very gently put his paw on your knee or rest his head on your lap and wait for a pat. Frankie gets very excited when his human family returns home, (even if it was just a trip to the mail box) and tends to jump up, but he is trying very hard to be a good boy and is slowly settling down.
Frankie is super smart and is learning the basic commands and is house trained. He is very food motivated and will learn quickly if given some love, time and patience. Frankie loves to please and does his very best to learn. He will need to go to a home with someone who would take his training further, and he would excel at agility training. Frankie loves to go for a walk and is learning not to pull, however does get excited when he sees other people and dogs, and is slowly learning how to introduce himself properly. He travels great in the car and loves to go for drives around town. Frankie currently sleeps inside but doesn’t mind being outside during the day.
Frankie is not a fan of being left home alone and may try to escape, so will need to go to a home with good fencing at least 5ft high. He will also need someone who is home a lot and has another young and energetic dog for company.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
