About Gemma ~ Foxy (On Trial 15/5/15)
Gemma is an adorable little fox terrier that is about 3 years old. She is a very cuddly little dog and would make a very good little companion and watchdog as she is so alert and smart.
When she first arrived she was a bit cautious with us and not interested in playing with our golden retriever but through time and gentle reassurance, she has settled in really well and has become relaxed and comfortable with us and our dog Archie. He has taught her to play and tear around the backyard.
Gemma follows instructions easily. Originally she would jump up on the lounge but after putting her down once she didn't try to get up again and this is true with other instructions.
Gemma would be a suitable pet with children of all ages. She is still learning basic training so that she walks more easily. Her new family would have to continue this training with her to get the best out of her, as she is very intelligent we don’t think it would take many lessons to achieve this.
Gemma was surrendered and has not displayed any concerning behaviour. She is very good at sneaking in the back door if given half a chance so good fencing would be important. She is ok outside when no one is home but is an inside dog and really does prefer to be with people whenever she can. She is very good with visitors and is quick to roll over on to her back for a tummy rub.
For more information or to meet Gemma, please contact her foster carer Alison on 0435 535 338 or email alisonmgreenwood@gmail.com. Gemma is in foster care in New Lambton NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Gemma's adoption fee is $400 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
