Spice ~ Tenterfield Terrier (On Trial 9/5/15)

Meet Spice - Spice is a 1 year old female Tenterfield Terrier . Although technically not a puppy being 1 year old she is a bundle of puppy energy and cuteness. \ Spice is house trained, knows how to use a doggy door and enjoys playing in water and so far eats all types of food that she has been given. She isn’t a barker, unless she is protecting her boundary.

Spice loves cuddling on your lap, sleeping at the end of the bed (currently under the covers), lots of attention and pats, lying in the sun soaking up the rays, playing by herself with the toys or tug a war and chases with her foster brother (a jack Russell). She likes watching TV with her family, or sleeping next to them on the lounge.

Spice came into foster care when her previous family became unwell and, although tiny (only a few kilos), would love to be adopted by a family who want her to be a huge part of their lives. She is currently in care with 3 small foster brothers and sisters and loves either running around the back yard with them or playing with the many balls and soft toys. But sometimes she just likes to chill out in the sun or follow her foster dad around while he works in the yard.

Spice, although you wouldn’t think it, is a bit of a jumper. Her nimble little legs can leap onto tall beds and chairs and even over a short fence if she wanted to. So, Spice’s ideal family need to have at least 5 foot fences to keep her safe. She is very dog friendly and loves all the little ones that come through her foster home door. She is a bit frightened of bigger dogs though, and tries to bluff them by growling and barking at them and getting as high as she can.

Spice is learning basic commands, such as sit and to wait for her food and not to try and eat everyone else’s,and she comes when called.

What will Spice’s ideal home look like? Her new home will need at least 5 ft fences, a family that will make her part of their everyday lives and activities, she will need to have somewhere she can be to feel safe when her family aren’t home. Maybe a little fur brother or sister for company.
