About Ginger ~ Great Dane X (On Trial 26/4/15)
Are you my new family? I can’t wait to meet you and start my new life with you! My name is Ginger and I am a 12 month young Great Dane X. No one believes my foster mum when she tells them my age as everyone says I am so well behaved. \ I was a bit skinny when I first came into foster care but I’ve thrived since arriving and I love my food! I love dinner time and once I feel full after dinner I will snuggle on my bed in my foster mum’s bedroom with my canine brothers and sisters and sleep soundly all night long.
I love other dogs of all sizes and ages, but I get on particularly well with male dogs. It would be awesome to have a canine brother in my new home, however I also wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the house as I would lap up all your attention! I will do anything for a pat and ear rub! I will sit like a statue whilst you pat me or I will nuzzle my nose into your leg or rest my head on your lap. I’m very affectionate and loving and adore my humans.
I love children of all ages. I have a very placid nature and I never jump up on people as I seem to understand that I’m a big girl and I might knock someone over accidentally by jumping. I am happy to lay around the house and watch everyone go about their day, I have been known to follow my mum around and get under her feet whilst she’s doing her chores. But I’m learning to go back to my bed and supervise from afar – I just don’t want to miss out on any action. I love going for walks, I am very friendly with the other friendly dogs I meet on our outings. I will come back when you call me, I wouldn’t run away as I love my family way too much! I have been to the beach which is heaps of fun, but I’m still getting used to getting my feet wet as the waves scare me a little bit but over time I’ll gain my confidence. I don’t act silly if I miss a walk every now and again, apparently that’s due to my understanding and calm nature. There’s always tomorrow!
I don’t shed too much hair which my foster family loves and I always smell pretty. I don’t get up to much mischief in the garden so I manage to keep myself quite clean most of the time (I really am very sensible aren’t I?). I’m very good at bath time - I’ll just stand there and enjoy being spoilt. I love my big bed and having time in front of the TV in the evening. I’m content to stay inside when you go out, I’m not destructive and don’t have accidents inside. I don’t chew things, unless it’s a bone - if you give me a bone it will keep me entertained for hours.
I’m really easy to train as I’m very food focused, and I don’t even make a fuss if you need to hide medication in my food. \ I am good on the lead and walk well - I’m currently learning to walk by your side which I’m getting better at. I am great in the car so I’m happy to go anywhere with you.
My foster mum says I’m best suited to a forever home with someone who will let me be a member of the family. I’m a gentle giant and have great manners. I need to be able to sleep inside, and I’m quiet as a mouse overnight. When it’s lights out I don’t get out of bed until I hear my foster mums’ alarm go off. Then my tail starts wagging and I get excited as I know it’s breakfast time!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
