About Pixie ~ Kelpie X Jack Russell (on trial 8/6/15)
Meet Pixie, she is a petite little 1.5yr old Kelpie X Jack Russell.
Pixie is a bundle of joy and so unique in appearance with her beautiful colours and her love me forever eyes.
Pixie adores life, loves children, greatly enjoys playing with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and has shown no aggression towards cats she has met along her journey.
Pixie is a quick learner and eagerly aims to please, she can sit on command, come when called and whistled and is obedient when asked to stop if she is doing something naughty.
Pixie is not destructive and has great manners whilst being indoors, she loves curling up on a lap for cuddles or snuggling in to watch a movie. She is also toilet trained however needs to be let outside often to avoid accidents.
Whilst outdoors Pixie is an energetic girl who loves to run and explore her surroundings.
Her perfect home would have a dirt patch or sandpit so she can have a play digging. She has not dug up turf etc while in care she just loves playing in the different textures and given her own place to do so she is very content.
Pixie enjoys long walks and is good on the lead. When off the lead in a controlled area she comes when called, especially if treats are on offering, and is happy to be put back on the lead. She loves the beach but is not keen on the water.
Pixie loves being adored, She craves affection and loves nothing better in the world than being with her loved ones.
For more information or to meet Pixie please phone foster carer Amy on
0413 420 579 or email amyg2507@gmail.com. Pixie is in foster care in Anna Bay, NSW.
Pixie’s $400 her adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our
available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
When Pixie first came into foster care they had suffered demodectic mange (not contagious) for a long time. Pixie has been receiving mange medication and treatment for 3 months. Her immune system has recovered and she is now happy and healthy. Pixie will need to remain on a continued nutritious diet to keep her immune system healthy. We are looking for a furever family who will commit to feeding her a nutritious and varied diet (all ingredients you can buy from your local supermarket) as advised by her foster carer. Dogs who have had demodectic mange cannot stay healthy on regular packaged dog food and will relapse so a nutritious diet is vitally important to their ongoing health.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
