Ahoy me hearties! My name is Antimony and I have my heart set on a career as a pirate. It would suit me perfectly, because I have a wonky eye (which I believe is the proper medical /scientific name for it). I have had surgery to solve the problem, but I shall forever look piraty regardless. As a result I'll have had lengthy discussions with my foster mum about changing my name to the more apt Captain Jackie Sparrow, but she won't have it. Arr…! Well, I guess she'll be the first I'll keelhaul when I realise my pirate's dream. Another thing I've been pondering is getting an eye patch, but wouldn't you know it, they don't sell them in my size... Perhaps I’ll just settle for loop earrings and a fetching bandanna instead.
In spite of my bold pirate ambitions I have to admit that I am a rather timid girl, due to the fact that I lived as a feral for the first two months of my life. While that has prepared me for the pirate lifestyle, it's a bit less ideal for a house cat. Still, I have come a long way and with a bit of patience on my future mum or dad's part, I will soon be very social and confident. And affectionate, but I'd rather keep that a secret, because I wouldn't be taken seriously as a pirate if that became general knowledge.
I would also like to mention that I have exceptionally beautiful fur: a mixture of torti, red and tabby. I would go so far as to say that I am the most stunning kitten of the seven seas! My wonky eye just adds to the general appeal.
Obviously I would need a crew of at least one other kitten (my scallywag of a brother Tin perhaps?) or a friendly adult cat or dog. And as anyone knows a pirate needs a parrot perched on their shoulder, so I wouldn't mind one of those either. Although given my delicate build a canary would probably be a better option. So me hearties, I’ll be waiting for ye to come and meet me!
There is a chance that in future Antimony’s eye problems might reoccur, in spite of the surgery she underwent. Please have a chat with Amy if this concerns you.
Her ingrowing eyelid surgery was mostly successful on one eye, but she may need another surgery in the future and will probably have issues for the rest of her life. She sleeps with her eyes closed and isn't rubbing it at all, but she is probably still in pain from the eyelashes facing inwards. Her good eye has a small section with the same problem.
Antimony would need a household with at least one other friendly cat, so she doesn't get too territorial. At first she would grab a bite of food and run away from other cats to eat it - she was probably quite starving in the colony.
At the moment Antimony is "a work in progress", but we have high hopes for complete rehabilitation.
