About Blueberry
Blueberry and his siblings are from a backyard breeder who really has no concern for the welfare of his dogs. He allows his dogs to continuously breed and then threatens to dispose of them himself if rescue groups don't take them on. A team of Brisbane rescue groups took on the latest litter of puppies in exchange for the breeder desexing his female dog. Although Blueberry and his sister Daria are about as far from chihuahuas as you can get, we offered to take the two pups to share the load.
Daria and Blueberry are going to grow to be large to giant breed dogs. We are looking for families for them whom have experience with Danes and who are going to commit to socialising and caring for them for life. They are loving and affectionate puppies who love other dogs and love to play. They will be wonderful family dogs and we would encourage their new owners to take them to puppy training and include them in the family life.
If you're interested in meeting Blueberry, please read carefully the Chihuahua Rescue Qld adoption process because I'd love to have a meet and greet with you soon!
The first step in adopting a dog from Chihuahua Rescue Qld is to fill out an expression of interest form. We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.
This form can be found at the following address: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/12529dMiAly65p5nEdDC
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks. We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Indooroopilly or Moorooka vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Moorooka or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes. All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention. Due to their breed, we chose to have Prophylactic Gastropexy's performed on both Daria and Blueberry when they were desexed. This has added expense to their procedures but we feel this is in their welfare. They came to us heavily infected with fleas and worms. We tested them for parvo and coccidia however they were both clear of these, however had heavy parasite burdens. They were quarantined and hospitalised for the first week and then have been in foster care with one of our vet nurses since. - See more at: http://www.petrescue.com.au/admin/groups/10911/listings/359671#sthash.QCxmN7aI.dpuf
