About Chuck & Coco ~ Maltese X Shih Tzu (Trial 18/4/15)
AVAILABLE AS A PAIR OR INDIVIDUALLY
Meet adorable brothers Coco and Chuck, 4yo Maltese x Shih Tzus. These brothers are chilled out to the max, and would gladly spend their day sleeping next to you on the lounge, or napping at your feet.
Don't let their desire to be around fool you, they can actually be quite independent and will not fret if you leave them alone or if you give them some outside time. The only barks you'll hear from them is when they're on guard dog duty.
Despite being brothers, there are some personality differences between them, which compliment each other well. Coco is the most people orientated, he would love to share a bed or least sleep in your room with you, whereas Chuck is strictly business at night time and is happy to sleep undisturbed on the lounge. He's all about catching those zzz's.
Now, being lounge lizards isn't the only things these boys love, they also love going for walks, and are very well behaved on their leads. They enjoy nothing more then a good sniff and a bit of a run around. Chuck is very good at coming back when he is called, however Coco is still working on these skills. He is just too fascinated with all the wonderful smells to focus on hearing his name.
They also have their playful side, something which is coming out more and more during their time with their foster mum and dad. Coco would love to play with his foster brothers but hasn't quiet got the hang of it yet, but he will play by himself or with his brother. Chuck is just happy to go with the flow and if Coco doesn't initiate play, then he does mind. Both boys are cat friendly and not bothered at all by their feline foster siblings.
Coco has a food allergy which will require special food for the rest of his life. This is quiet manageable as all he needs is a premium brand fish based food (available from Pet supplies stores for approx $40 a bag, which is comparable to that of other premium quality food).
If you are after 2 new placid, chilled out members to add to your family then these boys can be adopted together. However, they are quite independent of each other so can be adopted individually. Coco would need you to have another small or medium sized dog to be his companion. Chuck either needs another dog or a person home a lot.
For more information or to meet Chuck & Coco, please contact their foster carer Laura via email dogrescuelaura@gmail.com. Chuck & Coco are in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and are available for adoption interstate.
Coco & Chuck's adoption fee is $450 each or $900 for the pair. They are desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
